UAAP Vball: Men’s team collar Bulldogs, Lady Tams blanked by Falcons
December 9th, 2009 by ian.evascoAdamson University surprised 2008 season runner-up Far Eastern U, pulling off a straight-set 25-18, 25-17, 30-28 win in Tuesday’s action in the 72nd UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Wynnet Eulalio gave the Lady Tamaraws their last taste of the lead, 28-27, when she blocked a Jill Gustilo spike.
But the Lady Falcons answered with three straight kills capped by Paulina Soriano’s winning spike to complete the win.
Team skipper Angela Benting led Adamson with 24 points behind 22 hits while Gustilo and Soriano added 11 and 10 each as the San Marcelino-based team stunned last year’s losing finalist.
“Hindi na ako nagulat na straight sets yung panalo namin, Kasi sa V-League pa lang kita mo na. Pag nawala yung (Rachel Anne) Daquis, wala na. Kami hindi naman nagbago yung mga players namin,” said Adamson coach Dulce Pante after the win.
“Malaking bagay talaga sa FEU yung pagkawala nung dalawa,” Pante added referring to FEU’s two key players Daquis and Mikaela Irish Morada.
