The Illinois CPA Society recently bestowed its 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award to IABF alumnus Edilberto Ortiz. The award is the highest honor given by the 25,000-strong organization and was given in recognition of Mr. Ortiz’s major contributions not only to the group but also to the Accounting Profession and for establishing E.C. Ortiz and Co LLP, which is regarded as one of the biggest firms in the United States.

Mr. Ortiz stressed in his acceptance speech “I was not born out of privilege, as such I had to work to support myself in college. I am glad I became a member of the CPA profession, one that has provided opportunities and experiences that helped me build a diverse CPA firm with the goal of providing outstanding service to our clients.”
