FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY, the best UAAP beach volleyball team for the past two years, added another title to its collection after dominating University of Mindanao-Tagum, 21-14, 21-18, and topping the PCSO Invitational Women’s Inter-Collegiate Beach Volleyball Challenge at the Cantada Sports Center in Bagumbayan, Taguig City.
Camille Abanto and Marigail Tolentino didn’t allow Davao spikers Lourdilyn Catubag and Karen Quilarion to control the tempo in the one-sided finals.
It was the second title this year for the Lady Tamaraws who also topped the Petron beach volley leg last February.
The duo will also try to win a third consecutive UAAP title late this year. In the recent first conference of the Shakey’s V-League, the FEU pair placed fourth.
“It was a well-played campaign for FEU,” said Edgardo “Boy” Cantada of the organizing Joe Cantada Sports. “The other teams also played well but in the end, the best team emerged.”
Ateneo de Davao, Central Philippine University Iloilo, University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, Ateneo, University of the East, Letran, Adamson, World Citi College and University of the Philippines also joined the event backed by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Toyota-Otis, Toyota-Balintawak, Tanduay, Lucio Tan Jr., Mapecon and ZestAir.
