May 3rd, 2009 by ian.evasco
The short-handed FEU Tamaraws nearly pulled an upset against reigning UAAP champ Ateneo in the Fil-Oil MVP Cup eliminations, 74-72.
The Tams made up for poor starts in the first and third quarters to erase double digit leads posted by the Blue Eagles but came up short in the end. Rookies Pipo Nuonduo and RR Garcia again came up big for the Morayta team, chipping in team 15 points and 14 points respectively.
Eric Salamat led the Blue squad with 15 points, while UAAP MVP Rabeh Al-Husseini was limited to 9 points.
