FEU vs DLSU: Experience > Talent at crunch time
July 30th, 2010 by PinoyH“FEU by a single digit lead. Mukang magiging Cardiac game na naman ito”
Those are the words I’d posted in PinoyExchange.com, predicting what will be the outcome of the game, and my prediction didn’t fail me.
Actually, I didn’t watch the game live because of other commitments, but I’m receiving text messages from my friends who were watching the game that time. They were saying that DLSU was leading all the way, and because of that, I can’t concentrate what I’m doing. When one of my friends texted me that DLSU is leading by 2 in the closing seconds of the regulation, I said to her that I’m still hoping for miracles… and it came.
After a sour shooting game of RR Garcia in the 1st 3 quarters, He proved that he’s still the Mr. Clutch of FEU as he lead FEU in their 4th quarter run, including the crucial steal and break-away lay-up that ties the game, then eventually sending the game into overtime.
The biggest revelation in this game is that, FEU found a new hero in the person of Carl Bryan Cruz. He was the lone bright spot of FEU during the time that FEU is making their run in the 3rd quarter. Actually, I doubted this guy. My 1st impression to him is he has no guts in the big games like this, he proved me wrong. From defense to offense, he’s doing it all. I’ll give you a little background in him. Actually, he almost made it to the line-up last year, but fell short due to the arrival of Marty Pereabras(CESAFI Jrs. MVP).
DLSU was successful in stopping the offense of our big men, by delaying the backcourt in setting up the offense (via Fullcourt Press). By doing that, both the backcourt & frontcourt were slowed down but this gave Carl Cruz openings.
This game would not have been close if Coach Glenn gave Pipo Noundou more playing time as he was the one who led FEU’s 1st quarter attack. But after that, he was benched until the last quarter/s.
Now, we found another hero. Every FEU game has a new hero. I’m curious who will be the next one in the next game versus the Adamson Falcons.
