FEU Upsets UE for the Second Time
June 5th, 2008 by reichmakayanNews just in!
The Far Eastern University Tamaraws wins over the University of the East Red Warriors last June 4 at the San Juan Arena in the FilOil-Flying V Invitational Preseason Tournament. FEU showed their heart clinching the highly contested match, 84-82.
Alright…I really can’t elaborate much because someone just narrated the whole story to me…Guess I was too busy finding my options…[I’ll be employed…yeah…may be before this month ends…I just got to get my groove on]
JR Cawaling was the Tamaraws’ leading scorer, contributing 18 points in that game. That’s good! The UAAP Season 70 Rookie of the Year’s getting his hold on the whole pressure game thing. Mac Baracael came off with 13 points, followed by Robert Kave who has 11 points.
Speaking of Kave, I heard that he was a member of the Papau New Guinea [call me stupid…but I don’t even know where that is…haha…I’m so sorry. =)] Under-20 national team.
With the win, the Green and Gold now sports a 6-1 win-loss card and is now assured of at least the number two spot in the quarterfinals. However, even after acquiring their second loss in the Invitational, the Red Warriors still have a sure spot in the quarterfinals, which will start on June 10 still at The Arena.
This is the second time the Morayta-based squad pulled off an upset win against the Warriors. The first one was in the Nike Summer League, which is still ongoing mind you. FEU won against UE last May 17 in the NSL, 72-69, at the FEU gym.
With that, I think we stand a fair chance of at least getting into this UAAP season’s Final Four. Aside from FEU, I think UE, DLSU, ADMU [yeah right! Usual suspects…] and [I believe one of the most underrated teams…] AdU.
Adamson gave FEU their first and only loss in the FilOil-Flying V Invitational. I hope with that defeat the Green and Gold team gave their strengths and weaknesses, both individually and as a team, a second thinking. The Tamaraws still need to have consistency. They are good, yes…but the game’s not just about being good.
