FEU Nursing Alumni President: A Message to All FEU-IN Graduates
August 31st, 2008 by relloydlopezrnDear Fellow Alumni,
We invite you to get involved.
The goal of the Far Eastern University Nursing Alumni Association Foundation, Inc. Philippines (FEUNAF) is to reconnect alumni members, actively live by its name as a foundation and create a national identity.
At one of the board’s meeting held last January 2008, Joyce Jonson and Geraldine Canete will head the creation of the FEUNAF website (www.feunaf.com) which will serve as a connecting link among alumni members not only locally but globally. We are inviting you to visit this website and help us improve our foundation by writing in the President’s Blog.
As part of the professional development, the board is on the process of providing research assistance to our alumni who are on thesis writing. We shall update you once we have finalized the project.
Another way by which we could reconnect our members is through the release of the alumni newsletter. It will also update the members of the current status of the foundation and the Institute of Nursing – FEU. The newsletter will release twice a year and it is chaired by Joycelyn Filoteo (Editor-in-chief). So if you have wonderful article in your treasure chest it is about time to share it with us.
Furthermore, the board came up with idea of adding freebies to the alumni card and we are still on the process of collating them. Therefore, if you have companies or know a company who could offer our members additional discounts please feel free to get in touch with Mrs. Elizabeth Hacinas (Membership Committee Chair)
In line with our goal to live by its name as a foundation, we came up with three missionary programs this year. The first one is the Summer Teaching Program held at Brgy. Biga, Silang, Cavite held last March-April, 2008. This program is a joint venture of the Institute of Nursing and the FEUNAF- Phils. headed by Mr. Hilario Publico. This project aimed to empower our community people. Operating on the principle of more than just giving them fish but teaching them how to fish, I and Ms. Honey Chille Tolentino taught the community core group of Silang, Cavite to perform basic physical assessment and Basic Life Support measures.
Another community outreach is coming this July 2008, in cooperation with Salamat Doc of ABS-CBN. The FEUNAF will be needing four nurses and four doctors to participate in the mission every Saturdays and Sundays of the whole month of July. If you would like to actively participate and share your services to our community people please look for Mr. Terrence Ranjo and Ms. Daluz
For the month of August 2008, we shall have our Manila City Jail: visiting and teaching program. This program aims to educate jail inmates how to prevent common illnesses. Please join us and contact Ms. Melanie Tapnio.
As the first ber month rings the bells of Christmas season, the foundation will be visiting and gracing one of the orphanages at Tayuman, Sta. Cruz, Manila. There will be teaching, entertainment and gift giving programs install for our brothers and sisters
Finally, we shall have our traditional annual homecoming by December. This activity calls for reuniting our members and electing new officers for the year 2009. If you have suggestions regarding venue and activities during the program please feel free to contact Mr. Ritchie Rueda.
If you need further information or have a question, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. TJ Nonog, Elizabeth Hacinas or me. Please share your ideas. Together we will accomplish a great deal for the Nursing Alumni Foundation.
Keep in Touch,
Rachelle S. Garcia, RN, MAN
