    Cycle of Stupidity

    May 26th, 2008 by nurse_corrupted

I can’t help it. I have to write. I have to vent and forgive me, dear readers, for doing this in here. (I don’t really mean it). Anyway, let me just tell you the story of what have just happened yesterday.

I was eating with my family in a “kubo-kubo”. We always describe that one where you can eat beside the road as you go on trips and the place where you eat is a big nipa hut with bamboo floors. My family is always fond of going to “kubo-kubo” whenever we want to take merienda in the afternoon.

As we ate, this kid, with tattered striped clothes that looks more like a rag or something sat beside me and told me with a straight face as if he is doing this for a very long time now, “Kuya, pahingi pera.” It hit a nerve. I’m not always giving alms to those poor people, as it is my belief that it will only promote dependency and will not help them in the long run. And the way the kid said it that is so blunt it can stun you for a second. It really irritates me. I answered back “Saan ba ang Tatay mo? Dun ka mang hingi ng pera.” God, I am working my ass off and you will just ask me for money.

So he scramed and we ate our meal, and when I thought that was over, Oh boy, I was wrong. As I was sitting near the edge of the hut, he came behind me, and called my wife “Ate, pahingi pera.” My wife said, “Wala nga e ang kulit nito.” And the kid retorted, “Eh bakit kayo kumakain dito!” Smartass.

He climbed on the edge of the hut, and was in my back, and I stared at him coldly. Well, he jumped down, and ask me again, “Kuya, pahingi ng pera.” And the ensuing conversation followed.

    Me: “Boy taga-saan ka?”

Kid:”Taga-magandang pangarap po sa banda doon.”

Me:(Goodness, magandang pangarap)”Matagal ka na ba dito sa bulacan?”

    Kid: “Opo, 9 years na.”

Me:(I was asking this questions because I want to establish, if he is a “dayo” in my area, as we are from the same town and there are a lot of people here who are congesting our tiny piece of town) “San tatay mo?”

    Kid: “Sa bahay po.”

Me: ” Ano ginagawa dun? May trabaho?”

    Kid: “Wala.”

And from that, all of the stupidity in these people came in.

I’m not anti-masa. I respect those people, who are poor and are working hard to alleviate their plight. But these people, whose parents are doing nothing whatsoever, and making their children beg passersby, is utterly disgusting. They even have the courage to have sex, make babies, and stupidly enough, they can’t support them. They really have fuc*k*d up minds.

They blame others, blame the government, blame the environment for their fate. They do not even blame themselves for what has happened in their pathetic lives. I think they also blame God.

I for one, had my first kid on the age of 19. I was still in college then. I can’t support them. My parents offered to help. So what I can do is do my freaking best in my studies. I gave the Pledge of Loyalty speech in our graduation day. I gave them a medal. And that’s my hardwork for my family. After grad, my kid has to go to school. Now, I have to provide them on what they need. So I gave it my all, my kids goes to school, I gave them baon, I give money to my wife, I pay for the service, I pay for the milk. EVERYTHING. Sometimes, I don’t even eat for a day just to make ends meet. Now, I am paying for the schooling of my 2 kids. And that is what I call being responsible for what you did.

And these stupid people, they just get the pleasure out of it and they cannot face the hardships after. They like all of it in an instant. That’s why, really, I get irate whenever these kids beg for money and their parents are at home doing nothing.

And these kids, with their parents as role models, will grow up, have sex, then kids, completing the cycle of stupidity.

If stupidity can kill, I hope it kills now. Period.

Survival supersedes beliefs, principles, and even morals. The malleability of the latter concepts—that defines character and persona, distinguishes man’s social strata, class and leverage in the society he lives in—against a person’s will to live is explicitly painted in Yann Martel’s Life of Pi. Pi Patel, 16, consistently deals with bashful versions of.. Read more..
