Adamson snatches Women’s basketball crown from FEU

A cold spell in the final minutes of the fourth quarter doomed the FEU Lady Tamaraws’ aspirations of a repeat championship, as they eventually bowed to the Adamson Lady Falcons, 55-48 in Game 2 of the UAAP Women’s Basketball Finals.
Coach Mike Oliver’s Lady Tams played catch up from the start till the middle of the third quarter with Adamson leaning on Anna Almasan and Analy Buendia to carry the fight against the defending champion. FEU wrestled the lead shortly before the end of the quarter anchored by timely sniping from Agatha Astrero and Marilourd Borja. However, FEU’s leading scorer Allana Lim was limited to only 13 points, as she was hampered by foul trouble.
Both teams struggled to make shots in the final quarter but Adamson woke up at the right time to regain the lead and claim the UAAP title in Season 72. FEU only scored 7 points in the fourth.
Adamson entered the finals after beating De La Salle, while FEU booted out UST in the other Final Four pairing.
